As per records available on MCI website three out of nine MCI officers are under suspension. There are the officers which are central government employees in nature and are not elected members of MCI. Hence Central Civil service conduct rules 1964 is applicable on all such officers of MCI which is not applicable on the Elected members and different committee members, who enjoy immunity from the Central Civil service conduct rules 1964.

MCI officers presently under suspension are

  1. Dr. P. Prasannaraj, Additional Secretary (Under Suspension)
  2. Dr. Davinder Kumar, Joint Secretary (Under Suspension)
  3. Dr. (Mrs.) Anshu Sethi Bajaj, Deputy Secretary (Under Suspension)

The government of India while framing the National Medical Commission Bill which is to replace the MCI act, have made necessary changes to have less number of elected mambers and more number of Civil service members who are well covered by the Rules of Central government. MCI and IMA, on the other hand, are opposing this NMC bill for ulterior motives and vested Interest” Said Dr Lokesh Edara from USA who is working on medical education reforms since many years.
