In view of the latest amendment of the TEQ (Teachers eligibility qualification) of MCI Board of governors allowing DNB post graduates to take up teaching positions in Medical colleges, it becomes important to know the bed strength of the DNB institutes before joining
However National Board of examinations, the accrediting authority of DNB institutes is clueless about the bed strength of the DNB institutes. In an RTI reply the NBE public information officer stated that “Beds strength of all NBE accredited institutes as on 23rd September 2018 is not available with National Board of Examinations, New Delhi (NBE)”
However the Accreditation form of DNB institutes available on the NBE website clearly desires the institutes to declare the bed strength. Hence its very likely the information desired in the RTI is maliciously hidden due to conflict of interest or due to some other similar reason.
The same RTI also denied to provide any information related to the DNB institutes. Medical council of india on the other hand provides all inspection reports (Both govt and pvt colleges) on its website. NBE states that “The requested information is available in fiduciary capacity with National Board of Examinations, New Delhi (NBE).The hospital running DNB/FNB Programme have exercised their privilege on the information submitted to NBE in the specialty specific applications & assessment reports and preferred that same should not be revealed to any third party”NBE RTI BED STRENGTH
