College of Physicians & Surgeons of Mumbai clarifies that the three-year fellowship programmes are not recognised by MCI but only 2-year diploma courses are recognised. In a default email circulated by CPS to all candidates and media queries, CPS clarifies this, and also clarified that the CPS diploma holders will be eligible for Post Diploma (Secondary) DNB course run by National Board of Examinations

The content of the E-mail reads as follows

Dear Candidate,

  1. Please refer the Gazette on our official website www.cpsmumbai.org in news section.
  2. As on today MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE, Govt. of India has not recognised CPS-Fellowship courses
  3. If you have passed CPS-PG Diploma courses after December 2009 then you eligible for secondary DNB entrance exam.
  4. The rule has amended as fellowship courses are not recognised by Govt. of India, henceforth there will not be any provision for MD/MS/DNB candidates to appear for the FCPS exam directly,
